Don't Let It Weigh On You- A Special Weight Loss Series

This evening I was sitting in the lounge of a bookstore when a woman walked in a took a table seat. She had purchased a bag of potato chips and a submarine sandwich from a popular fast food restaurant. She was a very heavyset woman, and she had difficulty walking. She ate alone, and seemed a bit sad and self-conscious, her shoulders were drooped and she took furtive glances around the room as she ate. Despite her apparent self-consciousness, the woman chose to eat in a public place where she could be in the presence of other people.
After she finished eating, she got up from the table and tossed the bag and wrapper into the garbage can and headed for the exit. I smiled politely to the woman as she passed by, but she looked even more self-conscious and went on her way.
Seeing that person at the bookstore got me to thinking about people and their problems and what causes them to do some of the things that they do. It is one of the reasons why I have decided to re-boot a special weight loss series that I introduced earlier this year. It is my sincere hope that this series will help others to feel a sense of compassion toward other people as well as empower folks to take charge of their own lives.

Everyday millions of Americans struggle with weight loss issues. How do they become overweight? Are these people heavy because they're lazy, or poor eaters, or under-achievers? Or could it be something else? The answers could be as varied as the world itself, but often times we can see a common theme repeated in many lives.
When you create a mental picture of someone, it can shed some light on the problem and give you a better sense of what he or she is going through. So I've decided to do just that in a special series called "Don't Let It Weigh On You" that will feature two fictional characters named "Pete" and "Carly", both of whom have problems that need to be resolved.
In the first half of the series we'll follow the adventures of "Pete", a man who has a good job and is seemingly the envy of his peers, but is in danger of losing everything that he has ever worked for.
In the second half of "Don't Let It Weigh On You", you'll be introduced to "Carly", a woman whose ambitious dreams for the future are on the fast track to derailment by someone who is working against her.
As you read about these two people, put yourself in their situations. What would you say to them? Have you done any of the things that they have to lose weight? What would you do differently? Helping them is helping yourself, so keep that in mind and do share in the comments.
