The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Acadian Fine Foods, LLC, a Church Point, Louisiana based establishment, is recalling 17,037 pounds of pork stew and chicken stew products which were distributed for retail sale in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas due to misbranding and presence of soy and whey allergens not declared on the food label.

The FSIS has assigned this as a Class I Recall of High Health Risk.

The products subject to recall include

• 12 - ounce single serve bowls of "Savoie's Cajun Singles Louisiana Pork Stew" bearing the establishment number "Est. 13587" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products have various production dates ranging from May 24, 2012 through March 21, 2013. The product packages also have "Use By" dates from May 24, 2013 through March 21, 2014. 
• 12 - ounce single bowls of "Savoie's Cajun Singles Louisiana Chicken Stew" bearing the establishment number "P-13587" inside the USDA mark of inspection. These products were also made on different dates ranging from June 6, 2012 through Feb. 25, 2013. The product packages bear  "Use By" dates from June 6, 2013 through Feb. 25, 2014.

The FSIS says the problem was discovered during a routine label review. The agency says that soy and whey are subingredients in the chicken base used in the production of the product. They go on to say the company changed chicken bases and the labels didn't reflect the changes.

The agency says that neither the FSIS nor the company have received reports about adverse reactions associated with consumption of the recalled foods and advise anyone with concerns about adverse reactions to contact a health care professional.
