Kanan Enterprises Voluntarily Recalls Macadamia Nuts Due To Potential Salmonella Contamination

According to a posting on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website, Kanan Enterprises has announced the voluntary recall of macadamia nuts due to possible Salmonella contamination

The company says the macadamia nuts supplier requested Kanan Enterprises to issue the macadamia nuts recall because of potential Salmonella contamination.

According to the press release, Peterson’s Macadamias in 16 ounce stand up pouches, were distributed only through King Nut Factory outlet in Solon, Ohio and the Peterson Nut Store in Cleveland, Ohio.

The recalled product was sold between 11/26/14 and 3/27/15.

Salmonella is a bacteria which can cause serious or life-threatening illness in frail people, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and young children.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The company says that people shouldn't eat this product. Consumers should either discard the product or return it to the place of purchase.

Kanan Enterprises says consumers with questions should call 1-800-860-5464, 8:15 am – 5:00pm EST, Monday – Friday.
