Chetak New York L.L.C. Recalls 14.1 oz. Jar of "Deep Coriander Powder" Due To Possible Health Risk

According to a press release on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website, Chetak New York L.L.C. of Edison, NJ is recalling 300 jars of 14.1 oz "Deep Coriander Powder", Lot# LE15152 due to the possibility they might have been contaminated by Salmonella bacteria.

The recalled product was distributed in retail stores nationwide from July 30, 2015 to August 13, 2015.

According to the company the product comes in a 14.1 oz clear plastic jar marked with the UPC number 011433134347 located on the rear of the package. The lot number can be located on the bottom of the jar.

According to the press release, routine testing by the FDA noted the potential for Salmonella contamination.

Salmonella is a bacteria which can cause serious or life threatening illness in the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, frail people and young children. In rare cases the bacteria can enter the bloodstream and arthritis, arterial infections and endocarditis.

Healthy people who become infected with Salmonella may experience the following symptoms:

  • abdominal pain
  • vomiting
  • nausea
  • diarrhea (possibly bloody)
  • fever

The company says that to date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this problem.

The company urges consumers who purchased the recalled 14.1 oz jars of "Deep Coriander Powder" to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The company says that consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-973-835-1906, Monday through Friday from 9 am – 5 pm EST.
