Huisken Meat Company Recalls Beef Products Because Of Possible Foreign Matter Contamination

The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Huisken Meat Company, an establishment in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota is recalling approximately 89,568 pounds of beef products that might be contaminated with "extraneous wood materials".
The FSIS has designated this a Class II Recall of Low Health Risk.
The following products are subject to recall:
- 2-lb. boxes containing 6 pieces of “Sam’s Choice Black Angus Beef Patties with 19% Vidalia ® Onion.” with Use By dates 05/17/2016; 05/29/2016; and 06/06/2016.
The FSIS says the Sam’s Choice Black Angus Vidalia Onion items were produced on various dates between Nov. 19, 2015, and Dec. 9, 2015, and shipped to retail outlets nationwide.
The recalled Sam’s Choice Black Angus Vidalia Onion items bear establishment number “EST. 394A” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
According to the USDA, the foreign material originated from an incoming ingredient and was discovered during production.
The FSIS says there haven't been any reported adverse reactions from eating the recalled product. They advise anyone with health concerns to contact a healthcare professional.
The FSIS posting asks that consumers not consume the recalled items, instead people are advised to throw out the recalled product or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
