Easy Steps to Bulking Up

Easy Steps to Bulking Up

Submitted by: Mike Umberger

Your physique can be a key determinant of your outlook on life. People who have a positive approach towards life and see a silver lining in every cloud, more often than not find their confidence from their physique. Have you ever noticed how most personal trainers ooze confidence and charisma? They are not acting. It is something which is an inherent part of their personality. On the other hand, being very skinny can lead to a lot of confidence issues.

This may be the reason why a lot of thin men are flocking to the gym to bulk up. And it is a fact that for men, being reed thin is almost as bad as being obese. However, with the right approach and correct steps, going from thin to muscular is actually possible. In case you want to bulk up too, here’s how you can go about it.

1. Change your diet. Professional bodybuilders will vouch for the fact that diet is a key element behind muscle growth. So the first thing you need to do is to know how far your diet is from being a ‘bulking up’ diet. Consult a nutritionist to find out your daily intake of

Calories,
Proteins and fat (saturated and unsaturated)
Fiber
Carbs

Assess your nutrition gap and ask the nutritionist to draw up a diet plan for which can facilitate growth of muscle mass.

2. Hire a personal trainer or join a gym. Expert help can make your fitness goals easier to achieve. Joining a gym is an inexpensive way of getting that expert help from the resident fitness trainers. But if you are too shy to work out in front of others, hire a personal trainer to work out at home.

A trainer will help you,get in correct shape for exercise. If you have led a rather inactive life thus far, you cannot start working out just like that. You need to attain a particular level of fitness from where you can move ahead. So, initially your focus should be on increasing your flexibility and assessing your current muscular strength. Once this is done, you can move on to heavy duty exercise.

Work out with weights. This is the real deal and your trainer can design a weight training program that helps you build muscles. Working with weights is essential because otherwise the bulking up diet that you are on will lead to the build up of fat in your body. And that would be a wrong way to bulk up.

Your training regime will mostly compose of exercises aimed at full body workouts, so that you can build quality muscle mass all over your body. Also, the amount of weights you lift should increase as you progress in weight training. Sticking to the same weights will not give you desired results.

3. Maintain records. Keeping a tab on your progress, can tell you, whether you are making any headway at all & if you are progressing at a proper rate it can also have a morale-boosting effect on you!

So, start your journey towards bulking up with these steps and you’ll get there soon enough!

Diabetes and the need for support and encouragement

by

James K. Robinson

If a family member or close friend has diabetes, it's important for them to feel support and love from you. Dealing with diabetes can be difficult and frustrating, and having the support of family and friends can make a big difference. If you are in a position to provide support to someone with diabetes, the following ideas can help maximize your efforts.

Learn about Diabetes
Whether you are brand new to the diabetes diagnosis or have known about it for some time, it's a good idea to educate yourself about diabetes. Find out from a trusted source what the signs and symptoms are, the types of medications used, and some of the ways to manage diabetes. When offering your support, you will know more about what the person is actually going through.

Diabetes is a serious disease in which higher than normal blood sugar levels circulate throughout the body, over time, this can cause damage to organs and tissues if not properly managed. There is no cure for diabetes.

At the same time, ask questions and talk to the person with diabetes, finding out what he or she needs from you. If you don't ask, you may not know how best to help. When you open up communication lines, you are letting the person know that you care and that you are there to help.

Know what to do in an Emergency
Diabetic emergencies don't happen often, but when they do happen, it can be serious. Knowing what to look for and what to expect may possibly save a life. There are two emergencies to watch for - low blood sugar, and Ketoacidocis, or high ketones.

Ketones, an explanation
A complication of diabetes, ketones are the result of the inability of the body to obtain sugars, namely glucose, from the bloodstream. The cells of the body rely on the blood sugar called glucose to use as fuel in the production of energy to drive the millions of biochemical processes that keep the body alive. As well as the sugars in the blood, extra glucose can also be changed to fat and stored in the fat cells of the body.

When, for whatever reason, the body cannot obtain enough glucose from the blood the body will begin to "burn" fat to obtain the needed glucose and when that occurs, acids referred to as ketones are left behind. In other words, ketones are an acid remaining when the body burns its own fat.

When this condition occurs it must be treated otherwise the continued buildup of ketones will lead to the more serious level called ketoacidosis. Very high levels of ketones can lead to a diabetic coma or even death.

Some of the warning signs of a diabetic low (or low blood sugar) include headaches, dizziness shaking, excessive sweating, and hunger. Signs can escalate to seizures or unconsciousness. Some of the signs of high ketones are anxiety, nervousness, sweating, sleepiness, weakness, confusion, difficulty in speaking. Serious signs might include rapid breathing and stomach pain.

In both emergencies, stay calm and seek medical help immediately. In the case of low blood sugar, assuming the person is conscious, help them to take a glucose tablet or candy, or drink apple juice or orange juice, perhaps a half a glass to begin with but continued sips as they prefer. Stay with the person until medical help arrives.

The condition of lower blood sugars than normal is referred to by doctors as hypoglycemia, and the condition of higher than normal blood sugar levels is referred to as hyperglycemia.

Support Healthy Goals
It can be easy for family members to sabotage a diabetic person's healthy goals by cooking unhealthy meals, offering sweets and other tempting food, and not encouraging a healthy lifestyle. At the same time, it is just as easy to support healthy goals. Cooking healthy meals can be done easily by changing a few ingredients and avoiding certain foods. Healthy treats and snacks can be just as delicious as the high-fat or sugary ones you may be used to.

Exercise is good!
You can also begin walking or participating in other types of exercise as a family. Encouraging the whole family to get involved protects the health of the person with diabetes as well as the overall health of the whole family. Helping a diabetic person stay healthy is an important way to provide support.

There are many ways to show support to a loved one with diabetes. Use available resources and be sure to let the person know you are there to be a listening ear or to help in whatever way needed. Your support and love is invaluable.

Lose The Weight And Keep It Off With These Tips For Safe Weight Loss

by

Lee Dobbins

Excessive weight is quite a common problem for many people in today's fast-paced world. Some may have it at a very early age while some may start struggling with it after childbirth or with advancing age. Regardless of at what age a person may have weight problems, the fact remains that excessive weight is a serious problem. Not only foes it cause unflattering bulges in certain areas of the body, it is also a major health risk. Being overweight is considered as a key factor in a number of serious illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Being overweight and fat can also have psychological effects as one may find himself unattractive or even ugly because of his excess weight. This may be the reason why a number of techniques and diets have been developed each with a promise of easy, painless and quick weight loss.

One important thing to think about is to lose weight safely. Before embarking on any weight loss program, one must seriously consider its being safe. Weight loss foes not mean being deprived of important nutrients and energy. It is not only with the speed and ease at which weight was lost but how it will be kept off in the end. Unsuccessful attempts may simply cause one to jump from one program to another and to go though a cycle of losing and gaining weight or yo-yo dieting. Yo- yo dieting is in fact dangerous and a major health concern. The key to safely lose the excess weight is to stick to the basics and being consistent.

One step to safe weight loss is controlling your food cravings. Losing weight does not mean not eating entirely or giving up on nutrients or the pleasure of eating. Food craving can cause one to eat in a frenzy a particular food be it chocolate or chips. Stress is one key factor alogn with certain activities. Do not eat while you are doing something else like reading, watching television, or driving. Doing so makes you unaware and unmindful of the type and amount of food you are consuming.

Take time to eat. Safe weight loss does not necessarily mean giving up snacking. Hunger and deprivation can actually drive cravings so keep them at bay by having snacks in between meals. Go for healthy snacks like low fat or sugar free foods such as yogurt, bagels or pretzels. Skipping meals is a definite no-no in safe weight loss. Hunger will only cause you to eat excessively on the next meal so eat small frequent meals instead.

Drink plenty of fluids. Safe weight loss would not be complete without it. Water helps eliminate toxins and waste from the body and helps nutrients to circulate faster. It also helps your skin become clearer and more vibrant.

Safe weight loss, no matter how one may find it harrowing, still boils down to physical activity. Excessive fat would not simply melt away without doing activities. That will burn it and will keep it off. Exercise need not be a difficult activity. It can ne as easy as taking regular brisk walks, jogging or developing a love for a new sport like swimming, tennis or even dancing. Exercise releases feel-good chemicals in the brain that are also released when one eats. So it can also condition you mentally and at the same time curb your cravings. Exercise also causes you to perspire out toxins and wastes so they could also be eliminated from the body. Not only will you lose weight safely and help keep it off permanently, exercise also promotes healthy and clear skin.

Safely losing weight need not be done at a miraculous pace. The key is to see permanent and positive results without jeopardizing one's health. Remember to lose weight is not only for the sake of looking good and h\feeling better about yourself, ot is more so for the sake of your health.

Snapp's Ferry Packing Company Recalls Beef Product Because Of Possible E. Coli Contamination

by

Joseph

The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Snapp’s Ferry Packing Company, an establishment in Afton, TN is recalling approximately 410 pounds of beef product that may be contaminated with the bacteria E. coli O157:H7.

The FSIS has designated this a Class I Recall of High Health Risk.

The product subject to recall is:

  • 5-lb. packages of “Ground Beef,” with a packaging date of Nov. 20, 2015

The USDA says the ground beef item was produced on Nov. 20, 2015 and bears establishment number “Est. 9085” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The item was distributed to restaurants in the Knoxville, TN area; none of it was sold in retail outlets.

The USDA says the problem was discovered on January 19, 2016. A positive result for E. coli O157:H7 from FSIS testing was traced back to Snapp’s Ferry Packing Company as a result of an ongoing illness investigation in Tennessee.

According to a posting on the USDA's website:"FSIS is continuing to work with our public health partners at the Tennessee Department of Health and Knox County Health Department on this investigation and will provide updated information as it becomes available."

E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause the following symptoms 2–8 days (3–4 days, on average) after exposure:

  • bloody diarrhea
  • abdominal cramps
  • dehydration

Most people recover from the illness within one week, but some people may develop hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) which is a type of kidney failure. HUS can affect anyone but the elderly and young children are most susceptible to this health ailment.

HUS is characterized by the following:

  • decreased urine output
  • easy bruising
  • pallor

The USDA advises that people who experience these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.

The FSIS recommends that people cook their food thoroughly until it reaches a safe temperature of 160° F. The only way to confirm this is to use a food thermometer. Please refer to the USDA's Safe Minimum Internal Temperature Chart.

Consumers with questions regarding the recall can contact Jeremy Southerland, Owner, at (423) 638-7001.
