According to a posting on the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website, Mahina Mele Farms, LLC is recalling macadamia nut products due to the presence of Salmonella bacteria.
The nuts were shipped between Oct. 21 and Nov 25, 2015 and are from LOTS 026, 027, 029. The macadamia nuts were distributed to retailers in the following states:

According to the press release, FDA testing detected Salmonella in Mahina Mele Farms LLC macadamia nuts.
Salmonella can cause serious or fatal illness in the elderly, frail persons, people with weakened immune systems and young children.
Healthy people who become infected with the bacteria may experience the following symptoms:
- diarrhea (possibly bloody)
- abdominal pain
In rare instances the bacteria may get into the bloodstream and cause arthritis, endocarditis and infected aneurysms.
"In the interest of public health and safety, we are recalling all products processed from this batch of macadamia nuts." the company said in the press release.
To date, there have been no reported illness in connection to the recalled product. The company says the recall is being conducted with the full knowledge of the FDA.
Mahina Mele Farms, LLC advises customers to not eat the recalled macadamia nuts, but to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. The company says they'll reimburse the wholesaler for any returned product.
