Baths Take On a New Seasoned Look from Modern to Traditional

By: Shelley Murphy

Everything old is new again especially when it comes to bathroom remodeling. Homeowners are discovering one of the hottest trends in bathroom decor is replacing existing bathtubs with vintage Victorian baths. To further accentuate the look of the bath, elaborate traditional shower mixer taps are installed giving the bathroom a true historic appeal.

As do people come in all shapes and sizes, baths are following suit to accommodate every lifestyle exemplifying unique individual tastes incorporating extraordinary design elements. Creating a bathroom to reflect one's personal style can easily be accomplished with several different designs to choose from. Freestanding roll top baths are a great way to combine contemporary with traditional design by incorporating an ornate wooden pedestal or classical ball and claw foot mounts.

Creating a balanced look in your bathroom should take some considerable thought, whether it sumptuous curves or bold sleek lines, your blueprints should factor in floor space, plumbing, existing bathroom furniture and bathroom accessories. Corner baths are becoming increasingly popular not only due to their unique shape, but they are also a way of giving your bathroom a more spacious feel when designing for a smaller bathroom. Since baths are now available in a multitude of sizes, choosing a corner bath is the perfect addition to any bathroom giving it a refined geometrical look.

While bathtubs consume a large percentage of a bathroom remodeling budget, selecting a bath that is durable is a vital consideration. Today's popular choice for homeowners especially with children, acrylic has become one of the ideal choices in bathtubs finishes. Known for its flexibility, acrylic allows for creating a myriad of bath designs. Lightweight and fiberglass filled, acrylic baths are resistant to cracks and chips and are easily maintained. Today acrylic is highly regarded as a luxurious material that provides a deep and stylish design and gives a custom look to any bathroom installation.

GPS Tracking for Man's Best Friend

GPS Tracking for Man's Best Friend

GPS Tracking for Man's Best Friend

By: Simon Wyryzowski

To say that our pets are our best friends is an understatement. There are many people in this world who see their pets as life long companions, and even an integral of their family. How would you feel if your pet has run away, or perhaps has gotten lost somewhere outdoors? It would make your heart beat fast, palms sweaty and extremely anxious wouldn't it? After all there is not another pooch or kitty that can ever replace the special personality that your pet has.

GPS or global positioning systems can help give you peace of mind in knowing when your pet has crossed outside the safety zone of the backyard, or somewhere in your neighborhood. Other scenarios aside from domestic issues are the kinds where you take your pets on vacation with you, or go hunting with. Why take chances and lose sight of one of the most valuable members of your family?

GPS tracking devices will not substitute common sense and vigilance in watching over your pets, but rather help complement and reduce the chances of your pet running off by accident. These small moments can add up to lots of time, emotional investment, and spiritual drain after a while.

Consider several types of GPS tracking devices, from those that allow you to program safety zones which alert you when your pet goes out of bounds so to speak, waterproof and weatherproof models if you live in temperate zones, and advanced features such as heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature to see if your pet is truly 100 percent safe from the inside out.

It is up to you as the owner and caretaker of your pet to decide what features are necessary and which are not. You will find that GPS tracking devices whether for people, pets, or objects, are relatively easy to setup and are getting simpler everyday. What are you waiting for? Your pet deserves the best!

The Load

We each carry a load, such is life. We can't leave it by the roadside or hand it off to someone else. Some folks shirk their load but that the end result is emotional atrophy. Those who carry their load become stronger, they develop endurance and emotional power which ultimately makes them survivors.

You are strong because you have always carried your load. Your spirit is indomitable and you are a champion in your own right. You carry your load.

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear ; do not be frightened." 1 Peter 3:14

What is the Difference Between Plaque, Tartar and Calculus?

What is the Difference Between Plaque, Tartar and Calculus?

Submitted by: Dr. Susan Wells

Bacteria are constantly present in your mouth and plaque is simply a clear sticky substance that is made of bacteria. This film of bacteria is not harmful to your teeth or the health of your gums as long as it is removed daily, and removing it is easily done with good oral hygiene that includes brushing and flossing. However, when plague isn’t consistently removed, it will build up and release acids that can cause tooth decay and gum disease.

When plaque builds up in your mouth it can turn into calcified deposits called tartar (also known as calculus), which is very harmful to the health of your mouth, teeth and gums. Tartar is often the culprit behind cavities, gingivitis and tooth loss. And it’s a vicious cycle because the presence of tartar in your mouth creates rough surfaces which provide a perfect environment for more plaque and tartar.

Tartar can build up quickly or slowly over time and it develops both above and below your gum line. People who have less saliva in their mouths are more susceptible to tartar buildup because saliva contains bacteria-killing enzymes that fight against plaque, which is the foundation for tartar.

Once tartar has built up in your mouth, it can only be removed by a dentist, but good oral hygiene will keep plaque to a minimum and thus prevent additional tartar buildup. Plaque begins to build in your mouth within four hours of eating, so brushing after meals is the best defense against it, but a minimum of brushing in the morning and at night will help prevent plaque buildup which in effect prevents tartar.

Plaque is hard to detect because it is a colorless film, but tartar is fairly easy to spot when it is above the gum line because it turns your teeth and gums a yellow or brown color. Regular professional teeth cleaning that is performed in your dentist’s office removes plaque and tartar (calculus) from your teeth and gums.

If your teeth have a build up of tartar, a deep cleaning may be required to bring your teeth and gums back to a healthy condition. Part of the process of deep cleaning includes scaling, which requires a special tool to remove infected deposits of plaque or tartar that may exist below your gum line, behind your teeth or in the area between your teeth. Once the scaling process is complete, your teeth are polished. If tartar build up does exist on your teeth, scaling and polishing help prevent gum disease.

Using tartar control toothpaste, along with brushing, flossing and regular dental visits, can help control tartar, but once it begins to build up, it can only be removed in a dentist’s office with the use of special tools. And ignoring tartar buildup can lead to cavities, gum disease and even tooth loss.

The more you know about plaque and tartar (calculus), the more prepared you can be in preventing and treating it.

The Hook Ball - Mastering the Technique of Hooking the Bowling Ball

The Hook Ball - Mastering the Technique of Hooking the Bowling Ball

Submitted by: Johnny Cartwright

Most people, probably including you, start out bowling by using a "straight" shot. With this style of bowling, you simply point and shoot. Bowling with this style is effective, and you can in fact bowl an excellent score using it.

Even so, if you want to be more serious about bowling, or further improve your score, you'll need to learn more advanced techniques, adding more skill than luck to your game.

One of the first advanced moves most bowlers incorporate in their game is the hook ball.

By adding the hook ball to your arsenal, you gain much more control over where the ball travels, and which pins are knocked down.

The reason straight bowling can only get you so far is because you have to send the ball down the center of the lane, and hit pins straight on, while avoiding the gutters (and the dreaded gutter ball).

Few people can consistently bowl strikes with straight bowling -- often it's simple luck dictating where the ball strikes the pin, how much the ball is spinning, and how the pins fly around once hit.

More often than not, by sending the ball down the middle of the lane, you'll end up with a nasty split that is difficult to convert into a spare. Even if you do manage to nail the spare, you still won't be able to win a game against others that are able to hit strikes consistently.

That's where the hook ball comes in.

By using the hook ball, you add spin into your shot, using the spin to send the ball exactly where you want it to go.

Creating the hook is controlled by the way you release the ball.

In general, you should release the bowling ball with your thumb close to the bottom, using your fingers to give the ball some spin. With the right amount of spin, the ball should travel in a fairly straight line, until it reaches the "break point".

The break point is the spot in the lane when the ball begins to turn towards the target, leaving it's straight path. When the ball hits the break point, it should arc outwards slightly, then curve back toward the pins you were targeting.

To get the perfect hook ball, you'll need to analyze your bowling habits. You need to figure out your typical axis rotation and axis tilt -- or the amount of vertical and horizontal spin you usually put on your shots.

You can get an idea of these by the position of your hand when you release the ball -- get someone else to watch or take pictures or video of you while you throw several shots.

Once you've identified your axis rotation and tilt style, you can make appropriate corrections to your game. You can also get the best bowling ball for your style.

For a hook game, urethane balls are perfect. The texture of these bowling balls helps to add just the right amount of spin to your throw.

Once you've got the right ball, you need to practice. Learning how to hook the ball properly takes many throws, as you need to become comfortable with each aspect of the throw -- rotation, spin, location, speed.

It does take an investment of time, but once you've mastered the hook ball, you'll have a bowling technique available to you that will help you to score higher, making more strikes, and giving you a greater chance of hitting difficult spares.

Resistance Training Workout Routines

Resistance Training Workout Routines

What Is Resistance Training?

Resistance training involves activities that use weights, machines, resistance bands or even body weight to work your muscles properly. It is also known as strength training. This can be extremely helpful in achieving a healthier body. This kind of training we usually associate with athletes who have to build up their bodies to perform better. Most people would think that when resistance training is done, the body will grow bigger. Actually it does not have to. Resistance training is simply about increasing the strength of the body, not always it's size. Although we traditionally think that strength training traditionally for athletes, it can be use by anyone successfully if done correctly. Reistance training basically strengthens the muscles, and leans the bodies fat stores. It can be used by any age group to acheive specific results.

How Does Resistance Training Work?

A resistance training program will include the use of various exercise equipment and machines like the bench press, dumbbell or barbell. However, the easiest and most convienent way to train with resistance for most of us with busy lives is by using resistance bands at home. When the equipment is used, the muscles of the body will be pitted against the resistance. The cells of the body will then adapt to the extra resistance. This will then result to enlarge and increase the strength of each muscle cell to help in the muscle perform contractions more efficiently. Before doing any resistance training, it is ,of course, best to consult with a doctor. This goes especially for people who have medical conditions such as heart disease, lung disease diabetes, kidney or liver disease. You should know the proper tools and proper exercises for the needs of your body. Of course, that's is here for. We can give you a personalized assessment of what type of resistance training program is right for you.

One of the best things about resistance training is that it can be done with little to no expensive equipement and does not require a large amount of space. Doing push-ups is one good example. You can do it just about anywhere where there is enough space for you to move. This time it is your own body weight that will be pitted against the muscles. So those who are a bit constrained in the budget can still do resistance trainings.

What Are the Benefits of Resistance Training?

1. Increase Bone Mineral Density-

Bones are constantly remodeling, meaning the tissues break down at the same time they build up. The peak of remodeling takes place during puberty. However, as a person ages, our bone mineral density decreases as the remodeling is not as active anymore. This is especially a problem to post-menopausal women and the elderly, but does begin to happen in the early thirties. Bone mineral density is usually supported by the hormones and stress placed on the bones. To address the problem of not having the hormones and less stress, and to maintain the bone mineral density, physical activity is the next best option. Resistance training is one physical activity that can put enough stress on the bones to stimulate remodeling and increase bone density.

2. Increase Strength-

In addition to increase in bone density and strength, muscles will grow stronger and become more developed as you progress.

3. Increase the Range of Activities-

When your body is strong enough to carry some considerable weight, then you will also be capable of doing more strenuous activities. An increase in exercise lifts the mood and you will be more interested in life and a more active lifestyle. This will really create a snowball effect on your life and activities.

4. Reduce the Body Fat-

Using and increasing the muscle mass (even a little bit) will increase the energy that is required by your body, even at rest. This also increases the energy needed by your body at during activities. The more muscle, the more energy is needed to be broken down to supply you body to function properly. This translates to more fat calories and fat being burned each minute. Thus with the decrease in body fat, you can expect the tone of the body to improve and you will become leaner....and did I mention sexy??

5. Improve State of the Elders-

For the elderly undergoing a resistance training program will help improve their health and decrease the risks brought about by the age. They can be more independent, without needing to rely on other people for doing simple things. Being able to do so will also decrease the risk of injuries in the elders

6. Improve Heart Condition-

Regular resistance training can result in a lowered heart rate and lowered blood pressure, especially after exercise. Thus, the risk of heart diseases is reduced.

This kind of training however must be properly done. It requires commitment and consistency. It will have to be done in a regular basis.

This is the real challenge when it comes to exercise and improving your health is consistency It's not hard to exercise for 30 minutes, but its difficult to consistently do this 5 days a week for 3 or 4 months. That is why you will need comprehensive plans like provides. What is you ask? Well, it's not yet released, but it is a website that will automate all of your boring fitness tasks. Such as finding new and exciting workouts (even with video download), calculating your calories, and finding tasty recipes.

The best part about this site is that they don't just give you a list of exercises to do and send you on your way. They provide every aspect of help that is required to get results. Workouts, nutrition, motivation, recipes, peer chatting and forums, and even access to expert advice. The key here is to simply take your time. Do things one step at a time correctly. Should I Buy a Cuckoo Clock

Should I Buy a Cuckoo Clock

Should I Buy a Cuckoo Clock

By: Doug Mahopac

Are you in need of a quality clock to keep time in your home? Do you want a timepiece that marks each hour by a sound? Are you interested in a unique and historic piece that is sure to bring beauty and charm to your home? Do you want a fabulous conversation piece that is sure to catch the eye (and ears) of all who visit your home? If your answer was "yes" to any of these questions, consider purchasing a cuckoo clock for your home. Cuckoo clocks are fantastically unique timepieces that include a small carved bird in the clock's bellows to chirp out the time instead of chime the hour. From the kitsch to the modern to the antique, any tastes and decorative style will benefit from a cuckoo clock.

Since cuckoo clocks are delicate in nature, you should only consider purchasing a cuckoo clock if you have the space to hang a clock securely from your wall. Since the chains and weights generally hang beneath the clock, you should ensure your prospective wall has enough room for the weights to swing freely. Cuckoo clocks are not mantle clocks and should only be hung from a wall, so if you do not have the proper space, you may need to reconsider your purchase.

Many travelers choose to purchase cuckoo clocks as a souvenir of their European adventure. Since cuckoo clocks were traditionally made in the famous Black Forest of Germany, and are continued to be produced using the traditional methods, a cuckoo clock is the perfect souvenir for travelers who want something unique and customary to mark their visit to Germany. However, before your purchase, ensure you will actually use your cuckoo clock once you return to your home. A cuckoo clock in a store full of cuckoos may seem appealing at the time, but you may find differently once you return home. These great clocks are perfect for the right owner, who will cherish and appreciate the unique creation.

The best thing about the cuckoo clock is the bird itself. The cuckoo, a small grey bird native to Europe, Africa, and Asia, is replicated in carved wood and placed in the bellows of the cuckoo clock. Once the clock's hand designates the hour, the bird pops out from his home and sounds the hour. Instead of more traditional clocks that chime the hour, such as mantle clocks equipped with Westminster Chimes, this tiny bird chirps out the hour and is a favorite with both the young and the young at heart. In addition to not being as loud as chimes, the cuckoo clock does not sound for the length of time of a traditional chime clock, so the disturbance is at a minimum.

How to Care For Young Puppies

How to Care For Young Puppies

How to Care For Young Puppies

By: Alton Hargrave

Raising a puppie into a dog can be a very rewarding experience. It is like seeing a family member grow up, but in fast motion. Of course, I am talking about dogs not people. My wife, Barbara, and I raise Yorkies and Maltese and tend to think of them sometimes as family members. Except, these guys never need to borrow the car keys or stay out too late.

This morning, we had a litter of six Yorkies born. Both of us were on hand to help the mother. Most of the time, a mother dog doesn't really need any help, but sometimes there are problems. I cut the umbilical cords and tie them with dental floss. The mother dog would ordinarily chew the umbilical cords into by herself. With some breeds, such as Yorkies, sometimes the mother has too much trouble turning around to reach the cord, so I am there to help.

After the puppies are born, we put them in a warm room in our house. They get a dry, clean, warm bed consisting of a wooden frame about 24 inches square made of 1 by 12 boards. There is no bottom. This square just sets upon a cloth pallet on the floor. For the first week, we insert a small heating pad beneath the pallet. If you buy the disposable bed pads made for human use, they are great for the mama and her babies to lay on.

We keep a close eye on the little family evey day. Make sure the puppies are warm and dry. You can tell when the puppies are warm...they will tend to spread out on their bedding. Cold puppies tend to bunch up tight to conserve body heat. Make sure the mother dog is clean and that all the puppies are nursing. The mother's udder should be checked every day for milk production and infection. She will not go far from her puppies during the first few days, so bring her food and water very near to her.

For a mother dog to do well, she needs a quiet, secure place to be with her puppies. Stress can have a negative effect on the mother dog and her puppies. Keep other dogs away from her. Strange people can cause undue stress. Don't bring in all your freinds and their children for the first several weeks.

A lactating mother dog uses a lot of calcium and should be given calcium pills each day. If she suddenly goes into shock, she may be too low on calcium and will need immediate attention from your vet.

For about a month, the mother will take care of most things. After a few weeks, the puppies will open their eyes and start trying to stand up and walk. Playing comes soon after. In about 4 to 5 weeks, the puppies will be ready to start eating solid food. A mixture of canned and dry food with a little water to soften it is a good first food. Then, slowly reduce the moisture content until the puppies and eating canned or dry food only.

Getting Passed the Gate Keeper

Getting Passed the Gate Keeper

Getting Passed the Gate Keeper

By: Jay Conners

We all know the feeling of going out to make our cold calls, only to be shot down by the person at the front desk who looks at us as nothing more than a solicitor.

These front desk people would be otherwise known as the gate keepers.

Lets face it, getting passed the gate keeper can be tough, we are on their turf, what they say goes. Any slight resistance could end up with them making a call to security.

Here are few really good tips on getting passed the gate keeper that have been proven to work.

1. Ask to speak with someone in the sales department.
The next time you are out cold calling, the last thing you want to do is walk into an office building, approach the front desk, and immediately try to sell your product.

Instead, try this approach. Walk up to the receptionist counter, introduce yourself verbally and with a business card, and ask if you may speak with someone in their sales or retail department.

By asking to speak with someone in a specialized department, the receptionist will believe you are there on official business and put you in contact with that department.

Now that you are in front of someone in the same area of work as yourself, they will most assuredly be sensitive to your needs, and understand your situation.

These are the people in the company that will point you in the direction you want to go, and in the direction of the people you want to speak with about your products and services.

2. Call ahead before you go.
Before you go out to make your calls, place a telephone call to the companies you plan on visiting to let them know that you will be stopping by.

Tell them something like this.

Hello, my name is Jim Smith and I will be in your neighborhood this afternoon. I just wanted to let you know that I will be stopping by between the hours of twelve and two to introduce myself. That's it, stop right there.

Do not ask for permission to stop by. This will give them the opportunity to say no.

Once you arrive at their office, you can than reintroduce yourself as the person that had called earlier in the day.

This technique makes the transition from gate keeper to decision maker much smoother.

Getting passed the gate keeper can be very tricky, but it can be done. By following the two examples I described above, you should find yourself talking with more decision makers. Good luck.
