3) The heartworm larvae move in the circulatory system to the heart and lungs and fully develop, leading to an infestation of heartworms.

Prevention is the Key to Defeating Heartworms

Amateurs do not have a simple system or a professional training forum for their new people to plug into. They end up running and adult day-care because people become solely dependant on them. They will train their people to do the same thing. This will develop a stagnant team and group because you don't have enough time in a day to cater to all those people.

Tip #6
Professionals are constantly training and improving themselves. They attend marketing trainings, personal development, conferences and company events. They turn their cars into a traveling university. Go to a Professional's home and take a look at what they read and watch. You typically will find tons of books about the industry and people. Professionals understand that their product is people.

Amateurs usually attend one event or training, and think that's it. They don't buy books to learn about the industry and about people. They don't invest back into their business. They think they are doing the upline a favor by being in the business, they are always looking for a handout and not a hand up. One event or training is not going to make them a Professional.

Think about this, if your doctor went to medical school for only one week would you let him cut on you? Then why would you expect success from one week or month in your business? This is an ongoing process. This is not a thirty day, wait and see type of industry. You need to make a long term commitment to this system and industry. What ever your profession is, it took time to learn to be effective at it. This is no different starting up in this industry.

Hard-tailed bikes feature a front suspension fork. Suspension bikes have either front, rear, or dual suspension systems. These bikes also feature a shock absorber in the rear, in addition to a linkage.

Lighter weight material and materials that are more resilient are the norm for a cross-country mountain bike. You can find a cross-country bike that can weight anywhere from 20-40 pounds, depending upon your needs. An all-mountain or Enduro bike will usually be heavier than a cross-country bike. These bikes range in weight from 30-35 pounds. These bikes feature a suspension that will enable you to maneuver around hairpin turns and climb up hills much easier.

Heavier and stronger materials are used to build a free ride mountain bike. They are made to help make pedaling easier, so that you can easily move around anything that is in your way and you can make sharp turns. They weigh in at around 45 pounds, which decreases their efficiency over other cross-country bikes.

For downhill tracks or race courses, you will want to choose a downhill mountain bike. They offer you better traction than the other varieties of mountain bikes for maximum control and speed.

If short distance riding is your game, then a trial bike is probably the one for you. They lack suspension and do not have a seat or vestigial pad. They are also much lighter than other bikes for maximum speed. They weigh in at about 20 pounds.

Between mountain and trial bikes, you will find Street Mountain, Dirt Jumping, and Urban Bikes. These bikes are extremely touch and feature anywhere from one to nine gears with a chain guide for the front and rear gears.

It's summertime and the living should be easier - at least in the kitchen. Nature gives us everything we need to create simple, luscious, healthy meals -- it's up to us to slow down long enough to enjoy the bounty. With extended daylight hours, and no need to nag our children about homework, dinnertime can take on a whole new tone.

Shake things up a little bit this summer and have fun with these simple dinner ideas. Even the pickiest eaters will be won over.

*Picasso in the Kitchen
Allow the vivid colors of summer fruits to become your palette. Grab a large white plate or pretty tray and arrange slices of watermelon, kiwi, peaches, mango, grapes, and strawberries. This beautiful arrangement can become your table's centerpiece. Add a few bowls of various yogurts around the table and your hungry brood can dip to their delight. Warm a loaf of crispy French bread, wrap it in a festive cloth and add it to the table. Arrange some sliced cheeses and smoked or roasted turkey slices (pick these up at the deli counter) and you've got an easy does it, display that's good enough to eat.

*Participation is Key
Less structured summer days give kids the opportunity to join in meal prep. When kids cut the carrots chances are they will eat the carrots. You might even assign your older kids a specific night to select and prepare the menu -- with you as their sous chef. Offer them a few ideas such as "breakfast for dinner" or "mac and cheese night." Boil 8 oz. small pasta. Drain, then stir in 1 cup milk, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar OR 8 oz. American cheese, salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle more cheese on top. Bake at 350˙ until heated through. Easy and yummy and plain!!!

You will want to help with boiling the pasta but other than that it's a cinch for kids about 8 years and older. To make this recipe even healthier, throw some peas (frozen or fresh) into the boiling pasta for the last few minutes of cooking time.

*Picnics Inside
Even if it's raining outside think "picnic." Who said a picnic needs to be under the sky? Pitch a pup tent in the living room or use paper plates in the dining room - the idea is simplicity and a lighthearted approach to mealtime. Buy a precooked roasted chicken from your local supermarket. You can often find organic, barbequed, or even provincial chickens for under $10.00. Assemble a large salad from the salad bar or buy a Caesar salad in a bag. Finally, pick up a container of vanilla frozen yogurt and some chocolate chip cookies. When you get home all you'll need to do is cut up the chicken, add it to the Caesar salad and scoop some frozen yogurt between 2 cookies, wrap them in cellophane and freeze for dessert.

*Partner Up
Create a weekly summer pot luck dinner gathering with neighbors. Harkening back to those beach days where everyone contributed to joint family dinners, enlist your neighbors to join you in creating the ultimate summer easy potluck, one night a week. Your kids will love the cooperative feel where gathering together is what counts. Get out a picnic bench, paper tablecloths, and come up with simple contributions from participating families.

*Protein Power
The combination of fat, protein and fiber in peanut butter makes it hard to break down, so it lasts longer in our systems - providing us more energy. A perfect, protein packed, summer dinner kids adore is Spicy Peanut Noodles. It's served chilled or at room temperature so this is a great dish to make in the morning before the day begins. Edamame is also packed with protein punch and would make a great accompaniment to these noodles. You can buy them in the freezer section of your local grocer for ultimate ease.

Spicy Peanut Noodles
Whisk together:
- 4 Tablespoons each creamy peanut butter (organic if available) and low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 teaspoons fresh lime juice and a pinch of red pepper flakes
Toss with:
- 4 Cups of cooked pasta (spaghetti holds the sauce well)
- A seeded, sliced cucumber
- Top with a few sliced scallions

- Grated ginger and/or garlic
- Chopped fresh cilantro

Prevention is the key for many of the failures we see in our lives. With a little bit of maintenance and upkeep house hold problems can be prevented. Water damage is one culprit that can be avoided with regular care. How do you know when that little puddle in front of the refrigerator is more than just one of the kids spilling water on the floor? Here is a checklist to follow in your home to prevent the need for water restoration.

Utility Spaces

- Supply Lines: Regularly check the lines coming and going from washing machines. Hoses should be checked every six months and replaced when wear is evident. Most often hoses have a life expectancy of about three to five years.

- Water Heater: They are a big culprit for water damage in homes. All water heaters should be installed in the lowest level of your home. This will help to minimize damage if it should develop a leak. Also look for rust and wear. Around the time you start to see this occur is also around the time you should replace the water heater.

- Sump Pumps: The last thing you want is for a sump pump to fail in your home. Regular maintenance and a backup power supply can help eliminate the worry surrounding yours.

- Tubs: A big culprit for leaks around a tub is inefficient caulk. Caulk is something that needs to be replaced at the first signs of visible wear. Another area within the tub that can be an issue is broken supply lines and pipes. If the floor or wall becomes soft a leaking pipe can be to blame. Have a plumber out to evaluate your situation. It might not be a bad time to have them replace the supply lines into the tub/shower, toilet and sinks.

- Sinks: Not only can supply lines start to leak overtime so can the connector pipes. If you spot a small leak it is probably time to look at the drain pipes and resealing them.

- Toilets: Supply lines and wax seals are the biggest issues to perform routine maintenance on to prevent the need for water restoration. Leaks from the toilets caused major issues in our foreclosed home. So much so that we had to replace the tile and carpet in the rooms adjoining the bathroom.


- Dishwashers: You will need to periodically check underneath the sink for leaks. This is where the water supply connects the dishwasher to the water supply. Also you can look for leaks around the dishwasher that could be coming from the seals on the dishwasher. Other ways that leaks can be noticed besides visually seeing the water is to look for discoloration around the cabinets and floor surrounding the area.

- Refrigerator: Most of the time refrigerators are fine. If you have an ice maker or water dispenser hooked to the refrigerator you will have to be more diligent in checking hoses and connections in and out of the refrigerator.

We all want to keep our pets healthy and happy so if we could replace those high fat packaged treats you buy at the local grocer with a treat to make your pets health and immune system stronger we’d jump at the opportunity. Our dogs can also benefit from healthy snacks like fruits and vegetables. Over the long term these snacks could help its weight stay steadier and help the aging process be less severe.

It’s important to observe your dog with any change in diet, if your pet shows digestive or behavioral changes always stop feeding the new food item. Also if the problem doesn’t go away after you stop feeding the added food consult with your veterinarian.

We all know that some plant foods are toxic to dogs, so it’s important to be familiar with what you should avoid and which ones are safe. If you are ever unsure ask your vet before you start feeding your dog a new healthy treat. Another thing to remember is that dogs are omnivorous which means that they are able to digest some different kinds of foods, whereas cats are carnivorous and are incapable of digesting some types of foods. So be cautious when handing out treats to the whole pet family.

Let’s take a look some healthy treats that a lot of dogs seem to enjoy:

- Blueberries are good either fresh or frozen in hot weather.

- Bananas are another good treat that can be frozen in hot weather.

- Strawberries are yummy goodies for your pooch to enjoy.

- Watermelon and Cantaloupe are a great hydrating treat but no seeds. Be sure to remove the seeds before giving to your pet, as they can cause intestinal blockage.

- Apples are my dogs favorite snack especially with a little peanut butter. Again be sure to remove the seeds and core because apple seeds contain chemical compounds that are poisonous to dogs.

Those are some delicious fruits for your dog, but for a complete diet they also need some vegetable treats too. Here are few of our favorites:

- Zucchini or Squash especially pumpkin are a great source of fiber. If your dog is prone to diarrhea add some pureed pumpkin with their food for the needed fiber.

- Lettuce and Spinach are healthy iron rich foods to keep your dog smiling.

- Asparagus cooked and cut into bite sizes piece are a great source of Vitamin K.

- Broccoli Florets are a great treat and contain Vitamins C, K and A plus fiber.

- Brussels Sprout are another healthy snack make sure to cook them and cut into treat size bites to avoid choking hazards.

- Carrots are a good treat that contain a great source of Vitamin A for good eyesight.

- Cauliflower grilled with a little olive oil will keep Fido begging for more.

- Edamame are a convenient treat available as a frozen vegetable be sure to take them out of the shell.

- Green beans are another of my dog favorites and are good for upset tummies if cooked with brown rice and chicken in chicken broth.

- Snow or Sugar Snap Peas can be given shell and all but English Peas must be shelled. They are a great source of a multitude of vitamins and minerals.

- Sweet Potatoes are a versatile vegetable treat because they can be dehydrated for a healthy chew for your dog. You can also cook and mash them to add to your dog’s dry food for added nutrition.

These are all great treats to keep your pet in tiptop health, but remember there are some vegetables you should not feed to your dog. Never offer your dog these following:

Do Not Give These, NO NO Never!

1. Grapes and Raisins contain chemical compounds toxic to dogs.

2. Onions and Fresh Garlic both can be toxic and even life threatening to dogs and cats.

3. Tomatoes

4. Avocado

5. Mushrooms especially wild mushrooms

6. Fruit with pit, like peaches, plums and cherries the pits can be toxic and present a choking hazard.

7. Last but not least are Nuts, especially Macadamia Nut which are toxic for your dog.

The best way to feed your dog these great healthy treats is to bake or steam the vegetables and cut them into small pieces. Only give your dog small amounts of a new treat at a time to prevent choking and make sure your pet is able to comfortably digest these new foods.
