5 Types of Electrical Conduits for Safe Wiring

5 Types of Electrical Conduits for Safe Wiring
By Leo Eigenberg

The electrical conduits are a type of fiber, metal, or plastic sleeve that holds and protects wiring in the home or office space. The installation of the conduit is subject to specific wiring regulations. So, for this reason, it is essential to install the right one to match the needs.

Types of conduits

The placement of the electrical conduit will become a deciding factor on the chosen material. The majority of the conduits are placed on exposed wall surfaces, and the material is either rigid or flexible. The most common materials include liquid-tight/seal-tight, PVC-coated, EMT, PVC, rigid steel and IMC.

There are a variety of factors that are considered in the process of choosing the type of conduit system, such as the material of the sleeve, mechanical stiffness and wall thickness. The particular material is chosen based on the installation costs, its ability to resist corrosion, and its mechanical protection.

Rigid Steel

The thickest and heaviest choice for the electrical conduits is rigid steel which gives significantly more protection compared to the light, flexible versions. Popular materials include aluminum, coated steel and stainless steel. Plus, the different materials are given a special coating to increase the ability to resist corrosion. Rigid steel is useful in a wide range of applications including outside areas such as service feed installations and under driveways.

Intermediate metal

A lighter type of conduit includes those manufactured with intermediate metal and is a practical choice for protecting cables and insulating electrical conductors. This is a useful choice for exposed walls (basements, garages, etc.) and outdoor applications.

Electrical metallic tubing

The electrical metallic tubing is a lightweight material and relatively easy to install on indoor applications. It is typically made of aluminum or steel and a popular choice for industrial and commercial buildings.

PVC

The PVC conduit is the most cost-effective option for installing in industrial, commercial, or utility applications. Even though it is preferred for indoor use, it is still able to give sufficient protection against corrosion, moisture and sunlight. Also, it is an acceptable option for underground applications, but great care needs to be taken throughout the installation process.

Liquid-tight/Seal-tight

The liquid-tight/seal-tight has the ability to offer great mechanical strength and is finished with several types of coatings. It is great for commercial and industrial applications with the ability to accept a maximum rating of 75 C. Plus, this is a flexible type of material that is great for areas that experience a lot of flexing or vibrations.

Learn more about the usability options for the metal flexible conduit in a wide range of applications.

Essential Tips for College Students Caring for Dogs

Essential Tips for College Students Caring for Dogs
By Jessica N Javier

Balancing your studies, balancing your work, balancing your budget, balancing your social life, and balancing your health?

Here are some essential tips if you're a college student seeking advice about caring for your dog while balancing the other demands being in school presents.

Environment

When considering what environment to house a dog, first and foremost, make sure the place you are living allows animals. Being asked to relocate your pet or charged a fee because of your pet can be an incredibly uncomfortable situation. Any location you decide to live, access to a lawn for your dog to use the bathroom is a key factor to consider. Depending on the size of the lawn and whether or not it is fenced off will determine the type of leash to have. To avoid issues with neighbors and to reduce a build-up of lawn maintenance later, clean up after your dog every day. In order to protect your values and protect your pet, dog proof your house. Be aware of loose wires, open doors, and furniture stability.

Diet

There are a multitude of healthy snack options for you that are also healthy for your dog. Instead of immediately opting to give them a dog biscuit, switch it up with a nutritional alternative such as apple slices, watermelon, blueberries, frozen bananas, cantaloupes, green beans, carrots, or sweet potatoes. Introducing these types of foods to your dog at a younger age will allow him or her to acquire a taste for the foods and maybe even encourage a love for fruits and vegetables.

Entertainment

Introducing your dog to tennis balls at an early age is a great way to save money on toys. Tennis balls are inexpensive and easy to clean. While they are young, expose him or her to different toys and observe your dog's playing tendencies. Categorize the toy families that are safe for your dog to play with alone for extended periods of time and the toys that should be played with while someone is present. For example, some dogs will chew and consume rope toys, which may cause health concerns.

Cleaning/Grooming

Keep a tub of baby wipes readily available by the door to wipe away any small messes you wouldn't want your dog to bring inside. Also, a tip to keep your dog from excessive moving during bath time is to smother some peanut butter on the shower wall to keep them pleasantly distracted while you bathe them. If your dog has excessive shedding, brush him or her regularly and look into possibly investing in a robot vacuum.

Exercising

Lead a healthier lifestyle with your dog through healthy bodies and healthy minds. Regularly take your dog on walks and do outdoor exercises with your pet. If your dog needs more exercise than what you're able to offer, looking into local dog parks and dog walkers could make all the difference.

Social/ Support System

Have emergency contacts for you and your pet readily available on your mobile device and displayed in your home. Establishing a relationship with your neighbors can be beneficial if you want another set of eyes to monitor your pet. When you can, bring your dog out with you. If you are having trouble finding new friends, dogs are a great friend to help you meet new people. Being in an pet-friendly environment and community is good for both you and your dog.

There will undoubtedly be times of hardship when introducing a dog into your life while in college, but the lessons of responsibility, trust, and companionship are invaluable. College is full of excitement, stress, and every emotion in between. If you desire to own a dog while in college, following some of these tips and tricks may ease the transition of settling into your new life with your pet.

Planning for Success - A Positive Approach

Planning for Success - A Positive Approach

By: Robert Evans

Are you a good or bad planner? Do you cringe at the very mention of the word 'plan'? If you do then you are not alone. Thousands of online (and offline) marketers find themselves in the same position.

A good many of these people may well have never considered a plan of action as part of their daily marketing activities. Others may think they are too busy to spare any time for planning. Still others may feel they do need to plan, can see the benefits to be gained from planning, but don't think their skills or personality are suited to this task.

It seems perfectly clear to me that without planning, the long term success of any business, large or small, is unlikely to be realised!

A plan need not be elaborate. It need not be detailed, but you should at least commit something to paper.

Start off by taking a positive view of planning. Don't just look at it as 'another boring chore I've got to do'. Say to yourself 'This is my plan for success.'

Also consider the following benefits to be gained from good planning:

  • you can meet deadlines
  • you can meet or even exceed your targets
  • you can create a feeling of achievement for each step you fulfill
  • you can monitor and control your marketing activities to greater effect
  • you can initiate improvements
  • you can achieve personal growth and success

Once you have accepted that planning for success is a positive thing, it is then time to think about your goals. And just what do you want to achieve? Why are you marketing this or that product in the first place? Do you know what your short term and long term aims are?

Answering these questions accurately will enable you to take a big step forward to achieving whatever goals you ultimately set yourself. So what are your goals? And how do you plan to achieve them?

The great thing about targets is they give you a way to measure your performance and give you a sense of direction - you are going somewhere. It is important also to consider that in order for your goals to have substance and meaning they should satisfy the following criteria:

  • they should be achievable
  • they should be measurable
  • they should be challenging though NOT impossible

Here are THREE achievable, measurable and challenging goals that Bill, an Ezine owner, has set himself:

  • to get 200 subscribers within the first three months following launch
  • to ensure that AT LEAST 70% of subscribers are still in place after 6 months
  • to increase the number of subscribers by 800 in the year following the initial 6 month target

What three goals relating to your business can you think of that meet the above criteria? Write them down.

Now let's look more in depth at each of Bill's goals to see how he can evolve an Action Plan that will enable him to meet each goal in a systematic, cost-effective way.

In order to work out the Action Plan he should consider a set of specific questions he should ask. These questions are:

  • When should this happen?
  • How is it going to be carried out?
  • How much is it going to cost?
  • Who is going to do it?

GOAL ONE:
To bring in 30 subscribers

WHEN:
Within the first 30 days

HOW:
By advertising in Ezines, on PPC Search Engines, via opt-in email lists, and via other media such as Classified Ad sites and also offline via magazines and periodicals

WHO:
In the first instance Bill himself and then by others as the subscriber base grows

HOW MUCH:
The budget is under $50 a month

Bill's next step is to start to put together the Action Plan in more detail. This is a very important stage of the overall plan because it focuses on specifics:

  • how many hours is he going to devote?
  • which specific advertising media is he going to use and how often?
  • which advertisements is he going to use?

When getting down to the nitty gritty of executing his plan, Bill will try to keep in mind:

  • his daily advertising routine (stick to it)
  • whether he is keeping to the budget
  • his target

When considering your own marketing campaign always think to yourself that EVERY day you follow your Action Plan is a step closer to the achievement of your goal!

I look forward to getting back to the gym. In the meantime, I'm continuing with cardio exercises. I set aside time for stair climbing because it is very convenient and provides me with an excellent cardiovascular workout.

When I do return to the gym, I'll be lifting heavy.

I'll keep you posted.

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear ; do not be frightened." 1 Peter 3:14

Cycling: Health and Fitness Guide

Cycling: Health and Fitness Guide
By Joan Bishop Denizot

When it comes to convincing people to try cycling, some would usually ask, "Why go cycling when you can burn your calories in the gym?" While it is true that working out in the gym can help in losing weight and toning our muscles, outdoor cycling has its own merits.

Cycling is a low impact exercise meaning it does not put too much pressure that strains our joints unlike in running or high impact aerobic exercises and weight training in the gym. Our muscles can get a real good workout since cycling uses all the major muscle groups as we pedal our way through bike paths, roads and hills. Furthermore, as an aerobic exercise, cycling is an ideal cardiovascular workout since this activity makes us breathe deeper, experience increase in body temperature making us perspire, an indication of burning calories and a way of eliminating some toxins in the body like body fat. Cycling is an exercise that does not pressure us since we can do it at our own pace. It is also fun to do because we can do it with our friends or family and unlike in the gym where we are just confined training with various equipment within the walls, outdoor cycling gives us a sense of fun and adventure as we travel pedaling our bike.

According to research, steady cycling can burn as much as 1,200 kilojoules or about 300 calories per hour. Studies also show evidence that a half hour bike ride everyday will burn nearly five kilograms of fat over a year. Do the math and see how much fat can be burned when we ride our bikes for an hour or more every day. We use our bicycles not just as a form of leisure exercise, but we can also use them as our mode of transportation especially when we have gained that confidence on the road.

Of course, like any other exercise, we can get the most benefit from cycling when we pair this activity with proper diet and proper eating habits. It would be beneficial for us to come up with a meal plan so that the exercise would be complemented with the proper diet.

Experts suggest that we increase the protein in our diet, eat a nutritious breakfast at least an hour before the ride and have a protein-packed food for lunch or dinner. A healthy light snack can be taken in during long rides.

Whether you are an average sized rider or a heavier one who wanted to try biking for recreational purposes, commuting, or losing weight, check out Zize Bikes for a line-up of custom made, extra sturdy bicycles for everybody that can support ALL riders of ALL sizes (up to 550 pounds).

Exercises and Workouts - Three Ways Exercise Benefits Your Mental Health

Exercises and Workouts - Three Ways Exercise Benefits Your Mental Health
By Beverleigh H Piepers

If you are planning on becoming healthier and improve your overall well-being, it should come as no surprise to know exercise is one of the most critical factors for your success.

However, what many people do not realize is exercise also boosts brain health. It is going to do so much more for you than help ensure you can keep your weight in a healthy range and protect your heart. It will also keep your mind sound as well.

So, how can exercise improve your psychological well-being? Let us look at some of the ways it helps you achieve this...

1. Reduced Stress. Like many other risk factors that may contribute to Type 2 diabetes or heart disease, we are now exposed to far more stressors than earlier generations have been. Stress is naturally something that can get you down, leading to burnout, feelings of depression, and anxiety. If not controlled, it could also lead to weight gain because you are not keeping your cortisol levels in check which can promote fat storage around the abdominal region.

Lowering your stress level is easy when you exercise. You will get the release of positive "feel-good" endorphins, which will help give you a boost and ensure you are feeling calmer and more in control of your situation.

2. Greater Self-Confidence. When you exercise regularly, you can also notice improvements in your self-confidence levels as well. You will see what you can achieve with a little time and effort, and this can help you move one step forward on your pathway to success. When you are gaining confidence in your abilities to exercise, you will also gain confidence in other areas of your life. To achieve this, it is vital to employ an exercise program that helps ensure you are progressively challenging your body so you can see continual improvement taking place as well.

3. Improved Memory. Exercise will also help to boost your mental health and enhance your memory abilities: this is one factor many people do not realize. When you exercise, your hippocampus begins to grow, and this is the area associated with improved memory.

If you are finding yourself a little forgetful lately, adding a little more exercise to your plan may be just the thing you need to resolve this.

Hopefully, now you can see how many benefits exercise will bring to the table. It 's well worth putting some extra time and attention to carving out a spot for training in your week. Your health depends on it.

Although managing Type 2 diabetes can be very challenging, it is not a condition you must just live with. Make simple changes to your daily routine - include exercise to help lower both your blood sugar levels and your weight.

For nearly 25 years Beverleigh Piepers has searched for and found a number of secrets to help you build a healthy body. Go to http://DrugFreeType2Diabetes.com to learn about some of those secrets.

The answer isn't in the endless volumes of available information but in yourself.

Type 2 Diabetes and Weight Loss - You Can Control Your Calorie Intake With These Foods

Type 2 Diabetes and Weight Loss - You Can Control Your Calorie Intake With These Foods
By Beverleigh H Piepers

One of the most significant ways to control your blood sugar is through diet and the foods you chose. It is wise to keep your total calories for the day at a low but healthy level. The foods listed below contain almost no calories, and may even end up in the negative because you will burn them for energy. This means you can enjoy as much of each of these foods as you like...

1. Apples are nutritious, and a cup of a sliced apple contains 57 calories and three grams of dietary fiber.

2. Carrots are mainly orange but are also found in white, purple, yellow and red colors. They contain high amounts of beta-carotene that converts to vitamin A; essential for good eyesight. There are only 53 calories in one cup and more than 400% of the daily value for vitamin A.

3. Mushrooms are often used as a meat substitute by vegans and vegetarians. One cup contains just 15 calories along with vital nutrients.

4. Tomatoes are known as one of the world's most popular vegetables for taste and versatility. Containing lycopene, a beneficial compound, tomatoes can protect against...

  • inflammation,
  • heart disease, and
  • cancer.

4. Strawberries are delicious, versatile and fashionable. Consuming berries may protect against chronic illnesses such as heart disease and cancer, with fewer than 50 calories in a single cup.

5. Spinach is full of minerals and vitamins including vitamins A and K, as well as folate. Spinach contains a lot more protein than many other vegetables of the leafy green variety. Digesting one cup is only seven calories, so it is most likely to be a negative-calorie food.

6. Drinks. Water is the best drink as it has zero calories. Most of the herbal teas have very few or no calories. A cup of black coffee only has two calories. These are the best liquids to drink as everything else has more calories so read the labels if you don't know.

7. Cucumbers are often used in salads. They are mainly water, so half a cup of cucumber is only eight calories.

8. Watermelon is a fruit well-known for its hydrating ability. It is loaded with vitamin C and has a certain amount of nearly all nutrients. A cup of diced watermelon only has 46 calories.

9. Celery is widely acknowledged as one of the best low-calorie foods. It is high in water and has insoluble fiber, meaning it generally goes through your body without being digested. One cup of chopped celery only contains 18 calories.

Summary. There are plenty of other foods also in this category, including...

  • cabbage,
  • Brussels sprouts,
  • garlic,
  • grapefruit,
  • lettuce,
  • lime,
  • lemon,
  • turnips,
  • zucchini and so on.

Among this list of low-to-no-calorie foods, there are sure to be some you enjoy. Make the most of them instead of eating high-calorie processed foods that do not help you control your Type 2 diabetes and overall health.

Although managing your disease can be very challenging, Type 2 diabetes is not a condition you must just live with. You can make simple changes to your daily routine and lower both your weight and your blood sugar levels. Hang in there, the longer you do it, the easier it gets.

5 Tips To Prevent Gutters From Clogging

5 Tips To Prevent Gutters From Clogging
By James Lawson

Have you ever had the feeling where you want to stop that water leakage from damaging your home, but can't? Possible culprit - gutter clogging! So, what should really be done to prevent gutters from clogging and to avoid spending dollars on fixing that water damage caused by clogged gutters? Well, here are a few tips to help you with that. Let's take a look!

1. No matter what, never ditch cleaning!
Ignoring the gutters to such an extent where the downspouts have been entirely clogged just shows your procrastination towards cleaning. So, first thing's first - never ever ditch gutter cleaning. Select a particular day to clean the gutters at your place and stop living with the nightmare of water damaging your entire property because of clogged gutters. Only if you give a few minutes to clean the gutters, at least once in a month, you will be able to get the much-needed rescue from clogged gutters. A rake or shovel can help you remove those leaves, twigs, and other debris from the drains, and once done - you are good to go!

2. Don't delay fixing
Not just improper cleaning, but often some damages or issues with the drains or gutters can result in clogging eventually. So, make it a habit to regularly inspect the gutter systems and check for any signs of damages in any of the parts. If there seems to be a trouble, then calling the experts for repairing the gutters becomes absolutely important.

3. Get rid of leaves and debris, not just from the inside!
Now that you know that cleaning gutters from the inside is important to prevent clogging, don't think that you can let the debris and leaves hang outside the gutters that easily. In order to avoid them from making their way to the gutters, it is important for you to just clear them away. When you maintain a clean environment outside the gutters, the chances of debris getting collected inside the gutters also decrease significantly.

4. Guard them right!
Another important thing that you need to do, apart from cleaning and inspecting your gutters, is to get some high-end gutter covers or guards from a reliable manufacturer. These guards go a long way in protecting the gutters from debris by sealing the gutters and restricting the entry of airborne debris, leaves, sticks and other such materials inside the gutters.

5. Choose quality over money
This is, perhaps, one of the most important tips of them all - whenever you get new gutters for your place, make sure you go for an advanced gutter system, possibly seamless, which gives you a trouble-free life without giving you the headaches of dealing with those leaks, or the debris being collected in the joints of those sectional gutters. Get premium grade gutters installed at your place and you will substantially reduce the problems associated with clogging.

So, what is it that you want more? Find a reliable company that offers a wide variety of high end gutter systems at present. Choose an experienced gutter Denver Colorado contractor who also provides cleaning and repair services and have the peace of mind that you deserve. Know How To Keep Your Dog Athletic & Fit During Winter

Know How To Keep Your Dog Athletic & Fit During Winter
By Avijit Paul

High-flying outdoor activities like, running, jumping and playing are the favorites among dogs. These outdoor activities are valuable for their sound physical as well as mental development. Regular workout can reduce the risk of excessive weight gain, indigestion, heart disease and other illnesses. But when the snow-covered almost every area outside your house, it becomes quite difficult to take your barker out for jogging and outdoor exercise.

Small breeds like Poodles, Beagles and Terriers are high-spirited and immensely active. They require more than one hour of daily workout every day to remain strong, fit and vigorous. Even the large breed dogs like German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Dalmatian and Great Dane need a few bursts of exercise each day. However, the snow-covered roads, low visibility, incessant hail storm and the sub-zero temperature make it really hard to take a single step outside the home during winter. And keeping your puppy stationed inside the home and letting him allow to become a couch potato is something you can't afford as a responsible dog owner. So what are the best possible remedies to keep your canine fit and healthy through exercise without taking him outside your residence?

In this article, we are going to offer you some of the useful tips collected from the pet fitness experts that may help you to keep your canine in perfect shape even if you can't find a way to take him out during winter.

Involved your dog with different sorts of indoor exercise-
Most of the professional dog trainers accept the fact that, chilly winter months are not ideal for outdoor activities and for health and security reasons it is also not a viable option. You can make your dog workout from the comfort and convenience of your home that will keep him in good shape for years to come. We have rounded up some of the useful calorie-busting workouts for your dog that can be done indoors:

Play Fetch - The most popular game that you can play with your dog inside the house is fetch. To play this game you need to pick a suitable spot in your home (not necessarily the place has to be extremely large as a playground) just make sure he is not going to get himself hurt or destroy any of your home furnishing items. You can make use of a quality dog toy or ball. You simply need to throw it to some distance and ask your dog to bring it back to you. It is an excellent fitness regime that you can follow indoors.

Play Catch- Almost same as fetch, playing catch is another calorie-busting game you can play with your canine during winter. You need to toss-up his favorite toy or a ball in the air and make him catch it and fetch it to you. After couple of round is over, for a change you can play catch into different rooms within the house.

Put your dog on the treadmill- If you have a treadmill in your house, get your dog on it. Slowly turn it on and increase the difficulty level gradually. It is a remarkable way to make your canine healthy even during the harsh winter months.

Make use of your stairs- No treadmill in your house? Don't need worry. Up and down the stairs with your dog is an excellent replacement for a treadmill session. Moving up and down the stairs can help your pooch to boost his endurance, gain better body balance and acquire more strength naturally.

Dog trainers for aggressive dogs viewed all these indoor activities as fabulous cardio exercise that will help him to remain at the top of his fitness without putting a step outside the home during cold months.

Dog toys and mind games - Mind games that you can play inside the house are another great way to quench your barker's thirst for mental simulation. There are multiple dog toys available in the market that can help you out for serving this mission. Highly interactive brain games can erase boredom, enhance IQ of your puppy and solidify the bond between two of you as you work together as a team.

Stuff the food dispensing machine for dogs with a great variety of treats and tasties. Make sure every time it dispenses different types of foods. This will make your dog eagerly wait for the next meal or rather the next surprise. This eagerness will accelerate his metabolism and aid his digestion.

Kibble Hunt- Instead of placing the food straight in front of him, make him find it all by himself. Place the food in various places such as underneath rugs, behind the doors, under a table and make him hunt for it. It will keep him moving all the time and he will remain physically active.

Chewing Toys- The best way to prevent your dog chewing your expensive shoes or other things in your house is offering him chewing dog toys. Dog chew toys are useful items to keep your puppy busy and divert them into some quiet physical activity. Puzzle Toys- For the overall mental development of your dog, puzzle toys could prove really instrumental. By solving different types of puzzles at various difficulty levels, your pup can effectively release built up energy in a positive manner. It is not surprising that dog owners all over the world use puzzle toys such as Squeaky Sounding Chew Toys, Pet Intelligence Toy Feeder etc. especially during winter for the mental development of their four-legged friend when the chances of interacting with other dogs outside the home are limited.

These are the specialized ways to keep your pup athletic, fresh, physically fit and wise even when the weather is uninviting outside. You just need to make sure the toy you are buying for your dog is made of top-quality material and absolutely safe.
