Give 'em a Taste (and they'll likely come back for more)

Give 'em a Taste (and they'll likely come back for more)

By: Alicia Forest

I'm sure many of you are familiar with the original ice cream shop that offers you a taste of any flavor ice cream you want before you make your decision on which scoop you are going to enjoy.

Giving you a taste (or as many tastes of different flavors as you'd like) is a brilliant way to ensure that you not only order a cone at that moment, but it's also a way to bring you back to try more flavors on another day.

You can use this brilliant marketing strategy in building your business, too. Offering your prospects a taste of what it is that you provide is a proven and easy way to get people to become part of your community, and part of your marketing/product funnel (the funnel is the "journey" (that builds a relationship over time) that your clients follow from the first visit to your website, where they enter by giving you their contact information, down through each level as they make their way through each purchasing step in the funnel). By offering them a sample, you're giving them an opportunity to get to know you without risking anything more than perhaps a bit of time.

In your marketing/product funnel, the taste you are giving your potential clients is at the top of the funnel, the widest part. The taste is your freebie/complimentary/gift offering and is your first (and usually only!) opportunity to engage your prospect. Your taste needs to be something of value that you offer for free to people who visit your website in exchange for their contact information, usually their name and email address.

This is often one of the most overlooked steps in building an online business. A prospect needs to see your message many times (it ranges anywhere from 5-10) before they will feel confident enough to risk handing over their money to you. In order to build a relationship with people you need to be able to contact them again, which means your goal is to capture their email address before they click away from your website.

If they leave, it's unlikely that they will come back, so don't lose the opportunity to welcome them into your community, your funnel. They landed at your website because they were looking for something (usually a solution to a problem they are having, right? :)). Give them a taste of the solution you offer. And remember to make it easy for them: make your sign-up form or email so obvious that they'd have to trip over it not to notice it (yes, that includes pop-ups and the like, because even if they annoy you as much as they do me, they work!).

So, what can you offer of value in exchange for their email address? A newsletter, an ecourse, an audio clip, or a special report, are all good options. Personally, I like the offer of an ecourse AND an ezine. You give them a taste of what your services are like with the ecourse, and then you keep in touch with them on a regular basis with the ezine. The ezine allows you to build a bond with your readers in a uniquely personal way, letting them get to know, like and trust you over time, with you having to build that bond one-on-one.

So, one caution is to not offer any one-on-one interaction with you at this level. You want to leverage your time, and offering free consultations or one-time meetings with you is not a good use of your time. Let them get to know you over the course of your freebie offering. When and if they become serious about you and your products or services, they will move further down the funnel (from free to fee) without you having to "sell" them on what you provide during a complimentary session (how nice is that?).

So what is your taste going to be? Here are some other ideas:

  • write a Top Ten article about the benefits of your products and services, convert it to a PDF file, and offer it as a special report.
  • record a short audio about the three key things your niche needs to know about X.
  • create a mini ecourse that encompasses the five steps to getting started for your market.
  • or create a quick-start guide that helps your market focus on how to get started.

Once you've given them a taste, they will likely come back for more, eventually turning from a prospect to a client. Creating a taste of what you provide is easy and it's fun. Try it and watch what happens!

Barbell Floor Press Challenge Workout Cardiovascular

by

Joseph

I did not go to the gym last week. Since I have not been weight lifting as often as I'd like, I do a lot more stair climbing than in the past. Exercising with heavy weights is one of my greatest motivators, and I look forward to working out with heavy weights again soon.

When I do return to the gym, it will be to increase all of my lifting numbers.

I'll keep you posted.

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear ; do not be frightened." 1 Peter 3:14

How to Prevent Saddle Sore: Tips for Heavy Riders

How to Prevent Saddle Sore: Tips for Heavy Riders
By Joan Bishop Denizot

There are several reasons why cycling can be a good exercise for heavy people. Cycling is not only a fun outdoor activity but it is a low impact exercise that cyclists can do at their own pace without straining their joints. However, like all cyclists, heavy riders can be at risk of suffering from saddle sore.

Saddle sore is a skin disorder usually found in the area of the body such as the inner thighs and the perineal region that are in contact with the bicycle seat. It can be quite uncomfortable and even painful. This has been a common problem among cyclists regardless of weight. However, those who go for long rides and those who are a bit on the heavy side are more prone to experiencing saddle sore. To avoid it, experienced riders share these tips.

Seat height is one factor to consider. When buying your bike, try giving it a test ride to see whether the seat is set properly. A seat that is too high will pull your body further into the saddle as you reach for the pedal. This causes excessive pressure that may lead to saddle sore. A seat that is too low on the other hand, does not allow your legs to support your body and may put too much pressure on your crotch which also increases the risk of having saddle sore.

You can have the seat height adjusted just at the right height where you can actually sit upright and place both feet on the ground for balance. The right seat height can lessen the pressure on your sit bones and crotch area reducing the chances of chaffing.

The width of the saddle can also contribute to experiencing soreness. If the saddle is too wide, you might experience increased pressure in the crotch region which causes chaffing that leads to saddle sore.

While it is essential to wear a good pair of padded cycling shorts, experienced riders warn about wearing thick shorts. These tend to bunch up along the sides of the saddle and hold in sweat. The longer you are in these shorts and with the sweat accumulating in your crotch area, the higher the risk of skin irritation that leads to soreness. It may also cause bacteria build up that leads to infection in the chaffed area. It is recommended that you wear a chamois that does not have a seam in the middle of the shorts to prevent unwanted rubbing. Some riders suggest applying chamois cream but you might want to consult your doctor which would be good for you especially if you have sensitive skin.

If you can manage to stand on the pedals for brief 10 seconds to relieve pressure on your seat, try doing so. This can also help allow blood to circulate along your seat area.

Remember that saddle soreness is common among cycling enthusiasts regardless of weight and length of cycling experience. But it is something that can be prevented so you can enjoy your cycling to fitness and health.

Whether you are an average sized rider or a heavier one who wanted to try biking for recreational purposes, commuting, or losing weight, Zize Bikes for a line-up of custom made, extra sturdy bicycles for everybody that can support ALL riders of ALL sizes (up to 550 pounds).

Type 2 Diabetes - Fat Tissue and It's Role With Aging

Type 2 Diabetes - Fat Tissue and It's Role With Aging
By Beverleigh H Piepers

Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer have a way of taking the life of overweight and obese people much earlier than the life of slim people. Scientists at the Medical University of Graz, in Austria, might have found the reason. When our cells divide, tiny structures called telomeres are involved in moving chromosomes to the "new" daughter cells. With each cell division, telomeres grow shorter, and shortness has to do with aging. The University of Graz, Austria, in March 2019, in the journal Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, reported on the link between fat tissue and its distribution of the shortened telomeres.

Researchers measured telomere length in the white blood cells of three hundred and seventy-five participants: they compared the telomere length with the amount and location of fat at fifteen sites. Telomere length was shortest in those who had high levels of fat in their...

  • neck,
  • upper arms,
  • upper back,
  • chest,
  • abdominal area,
  • hips,
  • thighs, and
  • calves.

It was found neck and hip fat were linked strongly with shortened telomeres. From these results, the investigators concluded excess fat is linked with the shortening of telomeres.

Medications used for treating diabetes have also been linked with telomere shortening. In January of 2019, the journal Aging reported on a study performed at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Hubei, China, and Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangdong, China. Telomeres in the white blood cells of three hundred and eighty-eight people with Type 2 diabetes were measured...

  • Type 2 diabetics not taking medications had significantly shorter telomeres than treated diabetics.
  • Type 2 diabetics treated with acarbose had shorter telomeres than those treated with other medicines.

From these results, the researchers concluded acarbose might have an aging effect.

In February of 2019, the Journal of Diabetes Complications reported on a study linking insulin treatment with telomere shortening. Investigators at the Capital Medical University in Beijing, China, and the Chinese Academy of Medical Science in Beijing, China, paid close attention to sixty-four people who had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes six years earlier. None had received insulin at the beginning of the study. Average telomere length decreased, although it lengthened in a small number of individuals. Out of 18 of the participants who had received insulin during the six years...

  • 16 showed decreased telomere length, and
  • 2 showed increased telomere length.

Insulin users were more than 17 times more likely to have telomere shortening than non-users. The use of insulin with high LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels were connected with telomere shortening as well.

Although medications are necessary for many people who have been given a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, controlling blood sugar levels without medications might be one way to increase their life expectancy, based on telomere studies.

Although managing your disease can be very challenging, Type 2 diabetes is not a condition you must just live with. You can make simple changes to your daily routine and lower both your weight and your blood sugar levels. Hang in there, the longer you do it, the easier it gets.

For nearly 25 years Beverleigh Piepers has searched for and found a number of secrets to help you build a healthy body. Go to http://DrugFreeType2Diabetes.com to learn about some of those secrets.

The answer isn't in the endless volumes of available information but in yourself.

Tips for Fixing Nail Pops in Drywall

Tips for Fixing Nail Pops in Drywall
By Sarahbeth Kluzinski

It is very common for screws in drywall to become loose overtime. This bubbling, blistering, or bumpy effect in walls is caused by the drywall pushing out the screw or nail heads as it shifts. This is referred to as nail pops in the drywall industry. Generally, this is a sign that your walls might be in need of fresh drywall work and paint.

For premature nail pops, you can sometimes repair them without professional assistance. For larger or more complex jobs, a professional drywall contractor is the best resource since they retain all the proper tools, equipment, and training. If you would like to fix a few nail pops around the house on your own, continue reading to learn some tips for doing just that!

Nail Pop Repair

To repair nail pops in your drywall, you will need a few supplies. You may have most of these materials on hand already, and anything you do not have can be found at your local home improvement or hardware store. Here is what you will need:

  • Stud Finder (optional)
  • Hammer (or nail punch)
  • 2 Drywall Screws
  • Screwdriver
  • Drywall Mud
  • Drywall Knife
  • Sandpaper (200 grit is fine)
  • Paint and Primer

To get started, be sure you have all the necessary tools and supplies so that you don't have to stop halfway through to make a trip to the store. Once you have everything you need, start by locating the framing around the area with nail pops. Use your fingers to tap the wall until you can hear a solid reverberation instead of a hollow one. You may also use a stud finder. Once you find a sharper sound, tap each side to ensure it sounds hollow. If this happens, then you have located the framing.

Next, use the drywall screws to re-attach the loosened drywall to the framing. Place each screw 2 to 3 inches above and below the nail pop. Then use your hammer to depress the nail pop back into the wall. Do this step gently as to not put a hole or dent in the wall.

Use the drywall knife to scrap away any excess drywall material that has flaked or crumbled off. Then use the drywall mud to cover the screw heads in the wall. Two coats should do the trick. Follow the instructions or look for online tutorials on how to apply drywall mud.

Last, use your sandpaper to sand the drywall mud until it is even and smooth. Then just finish the job with a fresh coat of primer and paint.

Call Bittner Drywall at 317-292-7408 for Indianapolis drywall repair and installation service. They are experienced drywall contractors who offer a wide range of residential and commercial drywall service, including repair, replacement, installation, new home construction, metal stud framing, custom drywall texture, grid ceilings, and much more.

Vestibular Disease in Dogs: Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment

Vestibular Disease in Dogs: Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment
By Taya Burnett

Vestibular system aids in providing equilibrium and a sense of spatial orientation to dogs. But a dysfunction can have serious effects on the balance systems of the dog's body. This system includes the parts of the inner ear and brain, which are responsible for the balance and eye movements. If the network is damaged by illness, aging, or injury, serious disorders can result, and are often associated with one or more of these signs, among others: Vertigo and dizziness.

There are two types of this disorder in dogs:

  • Central Vestibular Disorder
  • Peripheral Vestibular Disorder

The first one is less common but more serious form of this disease that originates inside the central nervous system.

The second type of this disease happens when there is annoyance to the nerves connecting the inner ear with the brain. This results in failure of balance and other symptoms resulting in vertigo and dizziness. This illness can look to be quite melodramatic to the dog owner if this is the first time the dog has been affected. But most of the times the dog recovers with supportive care and treatment.

Causes

  • Chronic and perennial inner and middle ear infections
  • Overzealous cleansing of the ears leading to perforated eardrum
  • Trauma from head injury
  • Stroke
  • Tumors
  • Polyps
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Meningoencephalitis

Signs And Symptoms

  • Head tilting
  • Loss of co-ordination
  • Circling and stumbling
  • Staggering
  • Falling and rolling

Congenital Vestibular disease is seen between birth and three months of age. Certain dogs are more predisposed to this condition, including Doberman Pinschers, English Cocker Spaniel, Beagle, German Shepherd, Tibetan Terrier and Smooth Fox Terrier.

This disorder is often mistaken as a stroke. The vertigo originated by this disease has an adverse effect on older dogs having symptoms like difficulty to stand up, circling, nystagmus, nausea, and head tilt. Older dogs are more stressed out due to this disease and so there is a need reduce their stress through earthy calming agents like amino acid, L-theanine and herbs including hops, Valerian, chamomile, and passionflower. Other remedies, including GABA, flower essences, tryptophan, and Homeopathics are also good in calming overwhelmed dogs.

Diagnosis

The veterinarian would conduct a physical examination to determine whether the disorder is peripheral or central. In case, a peripheral form of the condition is found, the veterinarian would use an otoscope to look deep into the ears of the pet. There are times when X-rays would be required. The veterinarian would also take the aid of blood tests, culture, sensitivity and cytology to get rid of other likely causes of specific symptoms. For tumors and polyps your veterinarian would propose a surgical biopsy. In case the central Vestibular disease is determined, the veterinarian would use an MRI or CT scan along with spinal fluid taps to find the root cause. If it is due to infection, then it has to be resolved.

Treatment

It is possible to alleviate nausea and vomiting with motion sickness treatments, but there is no specific treatment to manage Congenital Vestibular Disease. For middle or inner ear infection, antibiotics might be required to improve the condition. In case an under-active thyroid is the reason, the disorder will get resolved when the metabolic condition is managed precisely. If the treatment is the root cause then discontinuing the treatment can bring about complete resolution. But there are times when there can be some residual hearing failure. To completely cure this situation, the veterinarian would remove the polyps, but if there are cancerous tumors, then the conclusion is generally less positive.

This disease has a poor prognosis than peripheral form as a result of potential dangers to the brain stem that can be quite devastating. If there is an infection found, it has to be treated. In case of an inflammatory condition, it may react to treatment at first, but it can advance to a point where it could be untreatable. But the most common form of Vestibular disease - the peripheral form - improves swiftly, once the inherent cause is addressed and symptoms of vertigo are managed with supportive care.

I own a dog and regularly get dog supplies for him. I came across an interesting topic on the internet regarding Vestibular disease in dogs which I have enumerated in this write-up.

The Marketing Rollercoaster

The Marketing Rollercoaster

By: Mark McCormack

Ever hear someone say "Don't listen to them! They just want to take you on a rollercoaster ride!"

Many people who care about you and your well being will say something to this effect when you are provided with a business opportunity online. It is a way to deter you from joining up but what does it mean?

A rollercoaster provides anxiety building climbs, adrenaline pumping falls and exhilarating twists and turns. Half the time one is unsure which direction they are going and after all the ups and downs and twists and turns they find themselves back where they started.

Like a rollercoaster there are times when business is slow and times when things seem to be overwhelming fast. However, the scariest part is that no one wants to end up where they started with their business. Starting up a business costs money too, so if you end up where you started you are actually at a loss.

This is what upsets people. No one wants to put themselves through such a stressful event and come out with less than what they put in! It is true that the aim of a rollercoaster is to provide some exciting entertainment, but a business is viewed as a very serious money making system. If you don't make money then the business experience is considered a total waste. A scam.

But it is exactly this mentality that prevents people from succeeding in life. Money cannot buy happiness. If you're only goal is to make money then every drop, climb and twist in your business will be felt doubly. It will consume you. To a person with this state of mind every missed chance at a sale is a disheartening loss and reason to give up.

It's like wishing a rollercoaster ride was over as you climb into the seat. Your goal is to have fun but if you are too fearful of the ups and downs then when you get to the end you've missed the point of taking the rollercoaster! Many people get off at the end and say "I'll never do that again!"

The same can be said for a home business. If you wish you had all the money before you even started your business then you are missing the point of having money. Why did you want to join a business? Most people say for the money but then why would you want money? Many people who start up their businesses do not need it to survive but rather to gain luxuries in their lives. Sure you could buy that new car or house but why does that make you happy?

It is for the status. It is for the experience; for a sense of freedom and accomplishment. Money does not buy all of these things for you but rather it is the time and energy you have spent taking on the rollercoaster.
If you start up a business with the sole intent to make money then you will end up like the other 95% of internet based businesses that fail. The most successful people take heed of the advice, "Watch out, they want to take you on a rollercoaster ride." and expect that there will be ups and downs but they have fun with them. Even if they do not make money they learn from their experiences and apply the knowledge they learn. In real life there are ups and downs to everything and it is the way one deals with these ups and downs that determines the quality of their lives.

Money is only a symbol of one's real goals. It is an illusion born from materialism that blinds so many people from the rollercoaster ride that is their life; from the rollercoaster that is their business. It makes every twist and every turn more frightening and overwhelming. Do not become blind and miss the ride because sometimes the journey is more important than its end.

Barbell Floor Press Challenge Cardiovascular Exercise

by

Joseph

Once again I did not exercise at the gym. I performed a lot of stair climbing to at least give my body regular cardiovascular workouts. I really don't like the frequent gaps between weight lifting workouts, I've been a heavy lifter for many years now. Aerobic exercises keep the blood pumping and promote increased oxygenation to the cells of the body, but I miss working out with heavy weights. When I do (eventually) get back to the gym, I'll be lifting heavy.

I'll keep you posted.

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear ; do not be frightened." 1 Peter 3:14

How to Start Weight Loss Through Cycling

How to Start Weight Loss Through Cycling
By Joan Bishop Denizot

If you are one of those who made a resolution to start changing their lifestyle to be fit and healthy, you might want to try cycling as an exercise. Unlike weight training and running which usually strains your ankles and other muscles, cycling is a low impact exercise that burns calories as much as, or even twice as much as hitting the gym. Cycling regularly can make your muscles stronger. The stronger the muscles are, the better and faster your legs and hips work allowing your body to burn more calories while cycling.

To get optimum results in your cycling, you may want to complement the exercise with a healthy diet consisting of more vegetables and lean protein. Also, experts advice riders to eat a healthy breakfast before the ride and to never skip a meal. Starving the body of food makes one's metabolic processes to hold on to more fat instead of using and burning them. Experts also suggest that during long rides, it is advisable for the rider to take a short break and take snacks. This does not only provide energy but curbs craving that results to more unhealthy eating after the ride.

You might also find that following a training plan might be helpful for your cycling program to help you be fit and healthy. One experienced rider suggested a bike plan that allows you to ride at different speeds and intensities. For instance, you may plan your bike paths from pleasure cruising at the park on a designated day and cross training on another day.

You may also want to start your bike speed at an easy intensity such as riding at 8-12 mph. This is an almost effortless pedaling with only a light tension in your legs. You, may also experience steady breathing but not the huffing and puffing that one usually experience in a strenuous exercise.

Cycling at a moderate speed means that you are riding from 12 to 16 mph. At this rate, there would be more tension in your legs and your breathing would be heavier. Heavy breathing expands the lungs and allows more oxygen in the body that actually helps in burning body fat.

When you feel you are confident enough, you can go faster at a harder intensity form 16 to 20 mph but remember not to stay within this speed for so long as your legs and lungs would be working to their maximum capacity.

Just like any exercise, experienced riders advice cyclists not to forget to do warm up and stretch exercises before going out on the road for a ride. These exercises will prevent muscle injury and conditions the body for the ride.

Whether you are an average sized rider or a heavier one who wanted to try biking for recreational purposes, commuting, or losing weight, check out Zize Bikes for a line-up of custom made, extra sturdy bicycles for everybody that can support ALL riders of ALL sizes (up to 550 pounds).
