It was a crowded, busy day at the gym, and several of the machines, as well as the Olympic bars, were being used by other members. Not to be deterred, I made do with what was available.
It has been some time since I did a barbell press and hold; 110 pounds is lightweight for me, but it did provide for some pressing exercises. I started out with neutral grip lateral pulldowns because that station was the only one open at the time, and I needed to be doing something. I should have done more sets, but I wanted to d some overhead presses, so I stopped with five. I rounded the day out with twenty inclined pushups.
When I get back to the gym, I'll be doing more overhead presses - hopefully with the Olympic bar.
I'll keep you posted.

I should be able to fit some time into my schedule to return to the gym this weekend. It has been more than one month since I worked out with heavy weights. I need to get back to what I enjoy doing; cardio is fine, but it is no substitute for heavy weight training.
I've written and published numerous articles about the benefits of cardiovascular exercise and strength training with heavy weights. You also know that I have a strong preference for intense strength training.
But whichever you choose, both are healthier than sitting around doing nothing.
I look forward to when I will be pressing heavy weights overhead, and rowing heavy, too.
I'll keep you posted.

I will be returning to the gym very soon. In the meantime, I set aside time for stair climbing. Aerobics is no substitute for heavy weight training, but it is still exercise. I will be putting in a lot of strength training workouts, so the cardio is a decent prep in and of itself.
I'll keep you posted.

I did not go to the gym last week. I performed cardiovascular exercises throughout the week, it kept me from becoming sedentary. I hope to get back to the gym by the second week of June and I'll be lifting heavy weights.
I'll keep you posted.

Once again I opted to do cardiovascular exercise rather than not workout at all. Stair climbing is by no means a substitute for heavy weight training but it is better than sitting down all day long. My workload is keeping me busy to the point I have not been able to get to the gym to exercise, and when I do get free time, it's not feasible to head over to the gym.
When I am able to get back to the gym, I will be doing heavy weight lifting; I miss it and I need to be doing it.
I'll keep you posted.
